Ione School District is proud to announce its 2026 Crystal Apple “Excellence in Education” Award winners. They are Cydney McElligott and Mel McCubbin.
McElligott is a K-12 Counselor/Student Success Coach and Teacher who has worked for the school for eight years. Her nomination form stated that she devotes energy, dedication and time to ensure that every Ione Cardinal has the opportunity to succeed and to feel they truly matter.
McCubbin is an Instructional Aide who has worked for Ione School for two years. Working in a variety of roles, she is positive, encouraging and always goes the extra mile to help students and staff.
“Ione School District appreciates all the dedication our two winners have to our school, and are proud to celebrate them,” said Tracey Johnson, Superintendent.
Each year, InterMountain ESD organizes the Crystal Apple Awards for area school districts. The awards recognize outstanding teachers, educational assistants and district staff for their dedication and commitment to student success. Ione’s winners will be celebrated at the Crystal Apple Awards ceremony on May 11th in Pendleton.
