Ione Community School District Board Welcomes New Superintendent/Principal Position
The Ione School District Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Lloyd Hartley as the district’s next Superintendent/Principal. Hartley will begin his new role on July 1, 2026, bringing extensive experience in rural school leadership and a strong commitment to student success.
Hartley currently serves as Director of Special Education and Vice Principal (7–12) in the Lake County School District. He previously served as superintendent of the Clatskanie School District and as superintendent/principal in both Glendale and Long Creek school districts. Across his career, he has demonstrated a deep understanding of small district leadership, collaboration with staff and community, and a focus on providing high-quality educational experiences for all students. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Lewis & Clark College.
According to Board Chair Rietmann, “Mr. Hartley stood out for his experience and hands-on leadership in small rural schools. We felt his focus on growing student opportunities, strengthening instruction, and building relationships really matches what our community is looking for. His background in special education and his ability to support all students was especially important to the board. We’re glad to welcome him to Ione.”
